The Accounting Department
The Accounting Division of the Auditor's Office maintains the County's central accounting system and provides accounting, financial reporting, payroll, and accounts payable services to the County's various departments. To facilitate effective management of these responsibilities, the Division is organized into three sections, Accounting & Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable and Payroll.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
Annually, the Accounting & Financial Reporting section is responsible for preparing a report summarizing the County's fiscal affairs in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) and is audited by the State Auditor's Office each year. The Accounting & Financial Reporting section also provides accounting services, technical assistance, and analysis to various departments in recording complex transactions and compliance of financial requirements with various national, state, and local regulatory agencies.
Accounts Payable
The Accounts Payable section provides independent and impartial review of invoices that are presented for payment. Once the auditing function has been completed, the invoices are processed for payment. In addition, the Accounting Division acts as the disbursing officer for smaller taxing districts with the County.
Payroll
The Payroll section is responsible for the production of the county payroll, processing the related transactions and reports, and generation of the county employee's pay check.
